THE GARDEN CHURCH

VISION & BELIEFS

YOU LIVE IN A UNIQUE MOMENT OF HISTORY.

From disease to division the world looks darker than ever. So, where can you find hope?

We buy into the hollow hope of politics and nothing ever changes. We chase passing pleasures and leave less fulfilled. We climb the power ladder only to discover it’s lonely at the top. Empty is everything that this world offers. We’re longing for something this world cannot satisfy. It’s a craving for what can only be found in the Garden.

The Garden is where people once knew the tangible peace and nearness of God—a place from which sin drove us away. After dying for sin and rising again, Jesus stepped out of the tomb into a garden where He was mistaken by his friend for the Gardener. But it wasn’t really a mistake.

Jesus is the better Gardner who brings us back to a better Garden. A place where the all of sad things will come untrue. Jesus brings us back into God’s presence—the only place where hope, nearness, and joy can truly be found.

THE GARDEN IS A PLACE FOR SKEPTICS AND SAINTS TO CONSIDER THE CLAIMS OF JESUS.

IT’S A CHURCH WHERE HOPE IS FOUND AND DEEPENED BY THE POWER OF THE GOSPEL.

WE EXIST TO MAKE MATURE AND MULTIPLY DISCIPLES OF JESUS.

TO THAT END WE ARE BUILT ON THREE PILLARS: THE WORD OF GOD, THE WAY OF JESUS, AND PRESENTING A COMPELLING WITNESS TO THE WEST VALLEY.

WE ARE ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT SOUND, BIBLICAL CHRISTIANITY.

“The most excellent study for expanding the soul is…Christ, and him crucified, and the knowledge of the Godhead in the glorious Trinity. Nothing will so enlarge the intellect, nothing so magnify the whole soul of man, as a devout, earnest, continued investigation of the great subject of the Deity” — Charles Spurgeon

  • We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

    2 Timothy 3:16, Proverbs 30:5, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, John 17:17, Isaiah 40:8, 2 Peter 1:21, Psalm 119:89

  • We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.

    John 1:1-3,14, John 14:26, Genesis 1:26, Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 1:21-22

  • We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, eternal, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of all people, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

    Isaiah 68:5, Matthew 5:48, Psalm 103:13, Ephesians 1:3-5, Malachi 2:10, Matthew 6:26, John 14:21

  • We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal, second person of the Trinity, God’s only begotten Son. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal, visible return to earth.

    Colossians 1:15, Matthew 1:18-25, Isaiah 7:14, Romans 3:11-15, Hebrews 4:14-15, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Acts 10:38, Hebrews 1:1-4, 1 Thessalonians 4:14, Revelation 1:7, Acts 1:10-11, Titus 3:5-6

  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, sent into the world by the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide.

    2 Corinthians 3:17, John 16:7-15, Ephesians 1:13, Acts 1:8,1 Corinthians 3:16-17, Zechariah 4:6, Romans 8:14, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Job 33:4

  • We believe God created all human beings in His image, male and female, to glorify Him. Therefore, human life and worth begins at conception. Marriage has been instituted by God solely between one man and one woman. Every human life, having been made in the image of God, has inherent, undeniable dignity, value, and purpose.

    Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 5:1, Jeremiah 1:5, Psalm 139:13-14, Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:2-9, Leviticus 18:22, Ephesians 2:10

  • We believe that although made in God's image, all human beings from Adam onward are sinners by nature and choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. Sin distorted and effected every dimension of humanness. All people, under Adam, are born with a corrupt, sin nature. This left us in a hopeless condition from which Christ alone can redeem us. He alone can redeem all who trust in Him.

    Jeremiah 17:9, Genesis 6:5, Romans 3:23, Psalm 51:5, Romans 5:12-14, Romans 3:9-18, Ephesians 2:1-3, Isaiah 5:20, Psalm 58:3, John 5:40, 1 Timothy 2:5, John 3:16-17

  • We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit. Upon regeneration, God justifies sinners so that they are holy before Him, and gives them a new nature with new desires to follow Jesus, slay sin, and live for the glory of God.

    Titus 3:5, Ezekiel 36:26, 1 John 3:9, 1 Peter 1:23, Ephesians 2:8, 1 Peter 2:3, Galatians 2:20, Romans 8:15, Jeremiah 24:7, Romans 3:23-26, Romans 6:5-11

  • We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a gathering of believers in Jesus Christ, united for worship, service and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of glorifying God through advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ in a lost and dying world.

    Matthew 6:18, Acts 2:42-47, Acts 9:31, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 Peter 2:9-10, Colossians 1:18, Hebrews 10:24-25, 1 Corinthians 14:26, Matthew 4:19, Matthew 28:19-20

  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: Baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a confessing believer into water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that the Lord's Supper was instituted by Christ to regularly consider His saving-death on the cross and it's implications for our lives. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

    Matthew 28:19-20, Luke 22:19-22, 1 Corinthians 11:22-32, Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16, Romans 6:1-6, 1 Corinthians 12:13, Ephesians 4:4-6, Matthew 3:16, Colossians 2:12-13

  • We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the endless suffering of the wicked in Hell, and the eternal joy of the redeemed upon the renewal of all things.

    Psalm 98:9, Isaiah 16:5, Acts 1:11, Revelation 1:7, Matthew 24:24-27, Matthew 24:42-44, Matthew 24:30, Romans 5:9, Titus 2:13, John 14:3, Hebrews 9:28, 1 Peter 4:7, Revelation 19:11-16, Mark 8:38, 1 John 3:2-3, Matthew 25:13, Hebrews 10:37, John 3:18, Revelation 20:12, Revelation 20:11-15, Revelation 21:3-4, Matthew 24:14
